Vamana (Emesis): Vomiting is induced through ingesting medications, which is especially beneficial for Kapha issues – respiratory issues like asthma or chronic allergies.

Virechana (Purgation): Extensive bowel movements, ina controlled manner – using herbal laxatives to eliminate excess Pitta dosha, targeting liver, gallbladder, and metabolic disorders.

Basti (Enema): Medicated oil or other herbal decoction enemas. This is the primary treatment for Vata imbalances, effectively treating neurological conditions, arthritis, and chronic constipation.

Nasya (Nasal Administration): Medicated/herbal oils or powders are introduced through the nostrils to clear the head, sinuses and other mucal pathways – to, treat migraines, sinusitis, and stress.

Raktamokshana (Bloodletting): This is a specialized, localized bloodletting – using leeches or the physician’s implements. This process is beneficial in certain cases to purify the blood, or to let out small quantities of stagnant blood – especially in the case of skin disorders like Psoriasis, eczema, acne, and hives/ to bring relief in cases of Gout, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis and also for resolving certain sites in the body that have varicose veins and stagnant blood flow.

The Panchakarma process is done in 3 specific phases, and ideally takes 21 days, (though depending on the individualised plan and condition of the patient, sometimes it can be done in a shorter span of time).

  • Phase 1 – Purva Karma (Preparation): during which massages and other kinds of body prep get the body ready to open up and release toxins from even deep tissues.

  • Phase 3 – Paschat Karma (Rejuvenation): A crucial post-treatment phase that includes a specific dietary plan, rest, and herbal remedies to restore digestion, build immunity, and prevent recurrence.
